Traditionally, it is recommended that the groom and the groomsmen should have matching tailored tuxedos or dress suits which are the same or similar in style and color. The grooms tuxedo or suit can be of the same color or a different color which coordinates with the colors chosen for the wedding theme. The color choice for the grooms suit is quite flexible. For example the groomsmen may all have the same color tuxedos or suits and the groom may have a different color, which is customarily a dark colored, cream colored, or white suit . The wedding party will look more organized and color coordinated if the color of the suits, is the same for all of the groomsmen even if the style of each suit is different.
Does the wedding groom have to wear a suit?
What the groom wears on the wedding day basically depends on the type of wedding you are having and how much is available. If the wedding is being held in a church, chapel, or cathedral it is customary for the groom to wear a Tuxedo or Dress Suit with either a tie or bow tie. In more casual settings, what the groom wears may depend on the theme of the wedding, such as tropical, western, oriental, or festival which would allow the groom to dress more casual. Historically, there were strict guidelines for groom apparel but in today's weddings, grooms choices about what they wear to their wedding are much more flexible with style, versatility, and comfort being a top priority.
