Why wedding rings are circle shaped:
Wedding rings were of a circle shape which held a symbolic meaning of eternity for the Egyptians and other cultures as well. The hole in the center of the ring also has a special meaning, the hole represents a gateway (or doorway) leading to future events.
What Egyptian wedding rings were made from:
The original Egyptian wedding rings were made from braided hemp or reeds.
Why wedding rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand:
"These rings were placed on the fourth finger of the left hand (known as the ring finger) as Egyptians believed a vein ran from that finger straight to the heart, and this practice is said to be the origins of many later traditions. These rings were placed by a man upon the finger of his wife, signifying his confidence in her ability to care for his house" (1).
